Beverly Hills, CA - Jon Landau, the renowned producer known for his work on blockbuster films such as "Titanic" and "Avatar," passed away on Friday, July 5, at the age of 63. Landau succumbed to a battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of cinematic excellence.

Born in New York City, Landau began his career as a music critic and manager. He rose to prominence through his collaboration with Bruce Springsteen, producing some of the rock legend's most celebrated albums. In the 1990s, Landau transitioned to film producing, partnering with director James Cameron on "Titanic," which became the highest-grossing movie of all time at the time. Landau's collaboration with Cameron continued with "Avatar" (2009) and its 2022 sequel, both of which broke box office records.

Landau's passing has been met with an outpouring of grief and tributes from the entertainment industry. "He was a visionary producer who had an uncanny ability to identify and nurture talent," said Academy President David Rubin. "His legacy will forever be etched in the annals of cinema."
