Tracking Tropical Storms in the Atlantic
Subtropical Storm Debby Emerges in the Atlantic
BREAKING NEWS
Tropical Weather Outlook: A developing subtropical storm in the Atlantic is expected to intensify into Tropical Storm Debby within the next 24 hours.
The storm, currently located at 140W to 180, has sustained winds of 35 mph. If the winds reach 39 mph, it will officially become Tropical Storm Debby, the fourth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season.
The Atlantic hurricane season officially began on June 1 and ends on November 30. The season typically peaks in mid-August.
The 2024 season has been active so far, with three named storms already forming. 2004 was a particularly infamous year for Florida, with four major hurricanes (Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne) making landfall. However, all of those storms occurred after the season's official start date.
