Donald McNichol Sutherland CC (July 17, 1935 – June 20, 2024), was a Canadian actor with a career spanning six decades. He received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination for his performance in Ordinary People (1980) and has won six Genie Awards, two Emmy Awards, and a Golden Globe Award.

Sutherland's first major film role was in Robert Altman's The Dirty Dozen (1967). He went on to star in such films as Kelly's Heroes (1970), MASH (1970), Klute (1971), Don't Look Now (1973), Alien (1979), Ordinary People (1980), Eye of the Needle (1981), Backdraft (1991), Outbreak (1995), A Time to Kill (1996), Space Cowboys (2000), Cold Mountain (2003), Pride & Prejudice (2005), and The Hunger Games film series (2012–2015).

Sutherland's son, Kiefer Sutherland, is also an actor. In 2011, Donald and Kiefer became the first father-son duo to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
